Primary Healthcare Scenario in India

Primary Healthcare Services

Why is poor quality healthcare such a big issue in India?

Poor quality healthcare is a leading cause of death in India. The problem of poor quality healthcare is made more difficult because a massive chunk of the population is spread in remote villages, small towns, and cities. Over roughly 75% of the healthcare infrastructure is concentrated in metro cities, where only 27% of the population resides. The rest of the people that reside in the country struggle to be able to get even basic medical facilities. It has been observed that the primary medical centers in India need more than 3,000 doctors and have faced a significant shortage of staff in the past few years. In the last few years, lack of doctors in India has increased by approximately 200%. To help with these problems, the healthcare system is facing, we need NGOs that can support healthcare and help reduce the issues with medical services in the country.

What is the need of a mobile medical unit in a country like India?

A mobile medical unit is necessary in India because a significant portion of the population of the country is spread over rural areas that may not have access to hospitals, clinics, or other kinds of medical facilities easily due to the great distance between where they live and the place they may need to go for their treatment. Providing timely and good quality medical treatment, that can reach people in such areas is, therefore, crucial. This is why people in a country like India need a mobile medical unit.
